Welcome to the 43rd Kaustinen Folk Music Festival

Kaustinen is the oldest and the largest of all Nordic folk music festivals and it
attracts yearly thousands of folk musicians and dancers - both professional and
amateur - for seven days in Kaustinen, well known fot its traditional music and
musicians.

We have gathered here some basic facts in English to help you survive the hectic
festival days and nights.

Festival programme in English can be found on the left menu by day to day.

It's also available at our info desks by request during the festival.

Tickets before the festival

You can buy tickets at www.lipputoimisto.fi

During the festival you can buy tickets at the entrance gates and at the
Ticket Office situated in Kaustinen Music College behing the Festival Arena.

Ticket prices

Full day festival pass:
Mon 12th Jyly - Tue 13th July 25e
Wed 14th July - Thu 15th July 30e
Fri 16th July - Sat 17th July 32e
Sun 18th July free
Children 7-15 years Full Day Festival Pass 7e
Children under 7 years free

Evening ticket
Mon 12th July - Thu 15th July 20e
(There's no Evening Ticket available on Fri 16th and Sat 17th).

Evening tickets are valid after 19.00 (7pm). Those who purchase
Festival Passes DO NOT need a separate Evening Ticket!

Separate tickets to some concerts in Kaustinen-sali (see programme)
Adults 15e, Children 7-15 years 7e. Children under 7 years free.

Food & Drink

There are several bars and cafés, a buffet restaurant, Finnish and
ethnic fast food stalls etc. within the festival premises serving
guest from early mornings to wee hours.

With Children For families

With children Kaustinen is an ideal festival.
The Festival Park is vast and provides easy access to all venues and
services even for the disabled. There is a six day children programme
(see Lastenteltta) and a baby care room with free diapers!

Camping and caravan site is situated close to the Festival Park.

Travel connections

By Train:
The nearest train station is in Kokkola. Time tables you can find at www.vr.fi.

By bus:
Long distance buses from Kokkola, Jyväskylä and Helsinki/Tampere directions.
Several daily bus connections from Kokkola to Kaustinen.

By air:
Flights from Helsinki to Kokkola-Pietarsaari airport.
Time tables at www.finnair.fi or www.fc.fi.

By car:
Plenty of free parking space at festival guests - please follow signs while approaching the Festival Park.

Info Desk, Ticket Office, Accomodation Office, Lost and Found etc.

During the festival week all our offices serving guests are situated
in the Kaustinen Music College. The Music College is located just
behind the Festival Arena and by the main entrance gate.

With dogs

Your dog is welcome to the Festival Park but not inside bars, restaurants,
concert halls and similar facilities. The dogs must be kept leashed and the owner
must remove dog litter into trash bins.
