You asked and we replied! The Kaustinen Folk Music Festival in 2020 will come true after all! The name of this summer’s event is VirtualKaustinen, it will take place online and online only. To tune in, go to www.kaustinen2020.net.

From 13 to 19 July we will publish live broadcasts and new video recordings every day from 10 am to late evening. In the mornings, new recorded videos and audio clips appear on the VirtualKaustinen website. This programme content is contributed for the festival by a wide array of professional and amateur folk musicians and dancers. There will also be workshops and children’s programme for each day.

Toward the end of the week, three Kaustinen Live concerts will be live-streamed from the Kaustinen Hall in Kaustinen. On Thursday 16 July award-winning performers from the past years’ Konsta Jylhä competitions will take the stage. On Friday 17 July, the stream will flow wild with rhythms from South Ostrobothnia, and on Saturday 18 July, a request show concert will be performed by the legendary Night Quadrille band JPP. Live broadcasts will begin at 7 p.m.

VirtualKaustinen culminates in a great communal online jam session on Sunday 19 July at 2 pm.
